Cookies
Last changed on 14 October 2026. This is our cookie policy. It lists what this site stores in your browser, by name.
What the shop needs to work: your cart, stored as kinderbuch.cart, and the child you personalised last, stored as kinderbuch.lastChild so you do not type it twice. When you open the payment page, kinderbuch.pendingCheckouts remembers which payment it was and for which shop; your browser sends that reference to us when you come back, or while the shop is open, so we can check whether Shopify has confirmed the payment, and only the books you paid for are then taken out of the cart. A marker named kinderbuch.paid followed by that reference stops an old confirmation from clearing a new cart, and the references are removed once the payment is confirmed. These live in your browser; the cart leaves it only when you go to pay, because the payment page has to know what you are buying.
Two more travel with your requests. A cookie named market remembers which country you are shopping from and lasts a year; it goes with every request, because the shop has to know which prices to show. A random identifier named kinderbuch.visit marks your visit for as long as the tab stays open and is sent to us as you move through the shop, so we can see where people stop. It is drawn at random, it is not kept after the tab closes, and it says nothing about who you are.
The rest is measurement, and it runs by default. Google Analytics tells us which pages get opened; Meta's pixel tells us whether an advert led to a purchase. Each is loaded with the first page you open, so Google or Meta can see that a browser opened this shop. The one exception is a Global Privacy Control signal: if your browser sends one, neither stores anything in your browser or records who you are, and nothing reaches Meta from this site.
Google Analytics sets _ga and a second cookie named _ga_ followed by this site's measurement id. Meta sets _fbp and _fbc. Two things travel to Meta from this site: that you looked at a book and that you put one in the cart. Each goes twice on purpose, once from your browser and once from our own server, because a browser extension can stop the first; both carry the same identifier, so one action is counted once rather than twice. What our server sends with them is those same Meta identifiers, the kind of browser you used and the internet address your browser is using.
The payment pages are Shopify's and run on Shopify's own address. Shopify sets the cookies it needs there to take the payment, and the store's connection to Meta runs there too: it reports that a payment was started, that payment details were entered and that the order was placed, and it can turn the advert you arrived from into Meta's click cookie.
What this site never sends to Google or Meta: your name, your email address, your postal address, the child's name, or the photograph.
If your browser carries a Global Privacy Control signal, that is your no: nothing is measured and nothing reaches Meta from this site. Firefox, Brave and DuckDuckGo can send it, and so can an extension in other browsers. It counts for every visit.
Changing your mind: turn a Global Privacy Control signal on in your browser and it takes effect on your next visit. You can also delete any of these cookies in your browser's settings whenever you like.
We use no advertising cookies beyond the two of Meta's named above, and we let nobody else set cookies on this site.
